The Echoes Project in CHINATOWN
THE ECHOES PROJECT is a collective of performance artists who create powerful contemporary performance/rituals in response to urban sites. Premiering in Melbourne's Chinatown, the performance/ritual took audiences on an extraordinary journey through an alleyway which led to a historic building, which is now the Seamstress Restaurant and Bar. The building site was once a brothel, then a Taoist temple and then a sweatshop.
Founded and performed by musician and vocalist of distinct style, Ria Soemardjo THE ECHOES PROJECT (Chinatown) performers are world music percussionists – Ron Reeves and Matt Stonehouse and dance artist – Janette Hoe.
